Why I Chose Track and Field:_DSC2281
As a little kid I was always running and playing. I liked being outside because it made me feel free, once I grew up I started to realize how strong I really was going into high school. I wanted to run track so I learned to combine my strength into my discus and shot put along with weight lifting which gave me speed along with strength allowing me to find that perfect fit.

Inspiring Other Girls:
For other girls like me, you have to want to find out what suits you and what you are good at and when you find that fit you have to wear it. I was the only girl throwing at my high school for a while; most of them were runners, but I didn’t let that stop me from following my own path and doing my own thing. “ You can have great success in anything you do” you just have to want to be successful and believe in yourself. Self support is better than any type of support you can have.

Alantra is the 2015 track & field MVP for FPC, as well as 1st All-Area Team selection by the News-Journal. She had multiple personal bests this season following her first season on the weightlifting team. Alantra set the FPC school record in the discus five times this season culminating in a 5th Place finish at the State Championships. On top of this Alantra was also a double-champion in the shot put and discus at the 5-Star Conference Meet and she repeated this feat as a double-champion at the District Meet. “By the end of the season she was performing 295 lbs for sets of 5. Her progress was unbelievably quick she added 5-10 lbs on each lift each week that she trained. She broke all 3 school records in her weight class, Benching 175 lbs, Clean & Jerking 175 lbs and Totaling 350 lbs. Had it not been for a severe illness that she came down with over Christmas Break, there is no doubt she could have successfully done 200 lbs in each lift. Strength athletes with this natural ability don’t come along everyday. It would have been amazing to be able to work with her all four years of high school, but the way that I look at It is, that its better late than never. I know Alantra has a bright future ahead of her no matter what path she chooses” ….Duane Hagstrom Head Boys & Girls Weightlifting Coach Flagler Palm Coast High School Alantra is a 2015 Graduate of Flagler Palm Coast High School and is in the process of deciding what college to attend.
