Lots has been going on in the sports world and at the time of this commentary we are in the thick of the final four (basketball championships). However, I would be remiss if I let the opportunity pass to speak on the long awaited fight between Floyd Mayweather and Manny Pacquaio. It was the fans who took one for the team during this fight. This is for all of those fans who suffered through what has been described as the hardest fight to stay awake during in history. A lot was said after this fight. Credit was given to Mayweather for fighting smart (to the point of putting the fans to sleep) and denying Pacquaio the knock-out punch that would secure the win for him. I must say the fight game has certainly changed.
The great fighters knew how to be both tacticians and entertainers. Neither of these gentlemen cared to even try to give the crowd the thrill of the hunt. How we miss the old fighters. Did no one tell Mayweather to hug his wife and punch Pacquaio? Obviously he got his instructions mixed up. Yes, I am speaking to his alleged domestic abuse case(s) that broke weeks before the big fight. No worries, though; in true form, no matter how the reporters tried, they were shut down at every turn. The proverbial blind eye sees all but does nothing, especially when millions of dollars are at stake. Not letting the underdog off easily, it seems Pacquio had a secret of his own. Misleading fans by not disclosing a shoulder injury that, had they known, might have influenced some huge bets that were made on this fight.
You guys have some explaining to do….but you won’t. You don’t have to cos you got paid. Saying I was a little disappointed is putting it mildly, saying the world was disappointed speaks volumes. I hear through the grapevine that another fight is being planned. Will you be watching? I for one will find something better to do.
