Drones – Really? Who’s watching you and should you be worried
Got a jealous husband? Wife? Boyfriend or Girlfriend? Stalker or just nosey neighbors? Just want to sun-bathe in your backyard, well look up or down first to make sure that you are completely alone. Paranoid…I think not. That toy airplane that just landed or is hovering over your fence might be equipped with enough technology to take photos of you or listen and record every word you say. Let’s be clear – a Drone is anything but a toy.
The military are not the only ones using Drones. Drones are being used for animal research, allowing us to study those animals that are difficult to get close to, in their natural habitats. Film maker and entrepreneur Sam Crossman used drones to take footage of his descent into an active volcano. These high tech flyers are great when used responsibly.
How do people feel about Drones being available for personal use? A recent Reuter’s survey showed that while folk supported Drone use for the military and for law enforcement, most wanted the personal use of drones regulated and were not in favor of anyone, including law enforcement using drones to monitor or fly over private property.
Big Brother is busy and while it’s great to be safe and it is important that we keep our country safe, we need to exercise democracy to insure that the umbrella of protection covers us from all directions.
