THE MOMENTUM KEEPS ON GROWING

Imagine my surprise when I attended an Elton John concert and he introduced his opening act “2Cellos”.  I thought to myself  “No he didn’t!”  I mean how could someone has in-tuned to music as Sir Elton expect to please his audience with two guys playing cellos?  Now don’t get me wrong, I played violin as a child and was in the high school band.  I appreciate all types of music, but seriously at an Elton John concert?  I prepared myself for the inevitable and decided that I would just converse with the great group that I attended the concert with until the opening act ended.

Then they walked out.  First, I would like to get this out of the way; they are gorgeous!   Now let’s get to the music.   There are no words so, I will do the best I can to describe the experience.  Cellists Luka Sulic and Stjepan Hauser are unbelievable!  So unbelievable that when I played their music to my then 6 year old grandson, he claimed the CD as his own and shared it with his cousins who loved it too.  They would go into full jam mode in the back seat of my car.  Who would have thought that anyone could do Michael Jackson better than the King of Pop….well Michael is not a musician, but a talented singer and writer so you really can’t compare the two, but I’m just saying,  2Cellos rendition of Smooth Criminal is in a category of its own and placed the group at No. 10 on the Billboard Hot 100 Digital Songs Chart.  It doesn’t stop there.  Each song they played had the crowd up and dancing and if you weren’t dancing you were so amazed at their performance you couldn’t take your eyes off of them.

Sulic and Hauser have played the cello since childhood; Sulic graduated from the acclaimed Royal Academy of Music in London, and Hauser from the Royal Northern College of Music in Manchester.  They are a Youtube sensation and tour with Sir Elton John. Royalty deserves Royalty.  They have received numerous accolades, done TV appearances and their solo tours have sold out all over the world.  Their music crosses over generations and their fan base continues to grow.

How was that for a review.  I loved them.   2Cellos has new music available and if you are looking for something different I highly recommend you pick up their latest CD “CELLOVERSE.”
