Courtney Harper is the founder of Building Blocks to Success LLC. She is a graduate of Brenau University with a Master’s in Occupational Therapy. She became interested in pediatrics during her first level II fieldwork while in graduate school. Courtney teaches children, both those with and with-out disabilities, that they are in control of their own success and destiny. She does this by offering programs such as school readiness and Building Blocks to Success (BBTS) which allows the children to become aware of their “person”, environment, and occupation.
Located in South Hill, Virginia, Building Blocks to Success, LLC is a pediatric occupational therapy clinic that works with children with developmental delays with their learning, attention, movement, and behavior.
“We strive to work closely with parents, caregivers, and other healthcare professionals to assist children in overcoming developmental challenges and learning frustrations that prevent them from succeeding in everyday functional activities.”
Our aim is to develop successful children by integrating their “person” with their environments and occupations. This means that we teach children how to identify, self-regulate, and modify their person to be successful in the many environments in which they participate. We also work to modify the environments when necessary to allow for optimal performance. Lastly, we breakdown the child’s occupation, which is “play”, into small components that can be taught and refined in every therapeutic session.
“To-date I am the only pediatric occupational therapy clinic in my area. My future goal is to add physical therapy and speech therapy to my current location.”
