EM BOOK OF THE MONTH

Reading has always been and will always be on my Top Ten list of things that I love to do.  As a child I sat on a footstool in my Grandmother’s house everyday after school and read stories from her complete collection of ChildCraft Encyclopedias.  I never could get enough of books and I still can’t.  My gift to the EM Family is one of my absolute favorites by Pulitzer and Nobel Prize in Literature Winner Toni Morrison.  How devastated I was at her passing but how thrilled and honored I am to  have lived during her lifetime.  I thank her for taking my imagination to the next level.  She was truly a “Storyteller extraordinaire”.

“LOVE”  is a story set in a beach town called Silk.  The arrival of a young girl in a short skirt on a freezing day sets the stage for the introduction of the Cosey family, owners of what was once a top Resort Hotel located in what was called “Up Beach”.  The  characters  in “Love” will make you hate them, love them, pity them and want to yell “Stop” when you think you know where they are heading.  There are no words that I can put on paper to explain Toni Morrison’s books.  They are an experience.  Ms. Morrison takes you on a journey that makes you feel as though you are an onlooker in the town of Silk watching these events unfold, and as much as you might want, unable to stop the train wreck that you feel is coming.  She has chosen the only title strong enough to capture within its pages, a book that truly teaches us all how devastatingly beautiful love can be.  I hope you enjoy this book as much as I did.
