Everywhere you turn there seems to a be a new low carb diet craze eager to be the next big thing on the weight loss scene.
Drum roll please …..
INTRODUCING THE KETO DIET!!
No it’s not new. It’s been out there for a while, but we’ve decided to give it some play and let you decide if this diet is right for you.
The Keto Diet is a low carb diet that does not require you to make dramatic changes in the way you eat.
Here’s how it works.
Caloric Intake – Most of your calories come from protein and fat and less from carbohydrates. The Keto Diet Program, as with any diet, is only as successful as the commitment made by the person on it. Here’s what you must do!
You Must Eliminate
Avoid these carbohydrate packed beans:
Red kidney beans
What’s left to eat?
Meat and Poultry
Plain Greek Yogurt and Cottage Cheese
So basically you have to scratch a lot of things that you once enjoyed off the grocery list. But remember you have a goal in mind, a dress size, a pair of pants, some shorts you’re dying to get into or maybe just a healthy lifestyle change.
HOW DOES IT WORK?
The Keto Diet keeps your blood sugar levels low which suppresses the appetite, tricking the body into thinking it’s running low on fuel which in turn makes your body start to burn the fat off the body.
The Keto Diet is high in antioxidants which prevents the destruction of weaker cells in addition to creating new cells.
Fruits and Veggies
With all diets, you must take the good with the bad.
Diabetic Ketoacidosis. Diabetic Ketoacidosis is a condition in which the body produces high levels of blood acids called ketones. The condition develops when the body can’t produce enough natural insulin.
Symptoms of Diabetic Ketoacidosis to look out for are:
Nausea and vomiting
As far as diets go, every diet is not meant for every person. You have to find the diet that works best for your body. It is best to consult your physician before diving into any serious diet headfirst.
Weight loss is dependent on the level of dedication and discipline you have towards the process. As with any diet, in order to see maximum results, physical activity is very important. Develop an exercise regimen that will help you burn calories, as well as promote cardio health and tone muscles.
If the Keto Diet isn’t right for you, don’t panic! There are many tried and true diets that might meet your needs and if not, no worries, there is probably something new, just over the horizon heading your way.
